Mike McElroy
Senior Coach
Michael McElroy has been in the CrossFit space since 2009 and has even competed in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Fun fact: He competed alongside Rich Froning in their first Sectionals and Regionals in 2010.
Michael opened a CrossFit gym in 2009 after graduating in Exercise Science from Mississippi State University. He continued his journey as an athlete and coach while consistently pursuing more education in and around the sport. He has been working with individuals specifically since 2012 and has coached Regionals, Semifinals, and Games level athletes every year since.
Michael likes the individual aspect of coaching that focuses more on the athlete as a whole. He firmly believes that maximizing fitness requires looking at all the pieces of the puzzle. Coach Michael strives to get to know his clients on a deeper level so that he can navigate training that will help them achieve their maximum potential in the sport.
Michael lives in Madison, MS, with his wife Reagan and their four kids. He enjoys training of all kinds in his fitness. He has completed a Full Ironman 140.6 and is now enjoying returning to his roots in training CrossFit. In his spare time, Mike enjoys playing golf and coaching his kids in different sports.
What makes you passionate about coaching?
I’m a competitor, and I love watching people compete and face adversity through competition. I love watching people’s confidence grow through competition and physical development.
What aspect is your favorite part?
I love helping people with lifestyle stuff outside of just physical training. Everything in life is connected, and helping people navigate that is what I love about holistic coaching.
When an athlete communicates how much you helped them, how does that make you feel?
It makes me feel like my job has a purpose, fulfilled that I’m in the role God has put me in for a reason. To help these clients with more than just fitness
How do you see potential in an athlete, and how do you help them unlock that potential? How is that exciting for you?
Helping athletes unlock their potential goes back to the relationship and holistic coaching. I like to help with the athlete’s mindset around their potential and help the athletes develop confidence.
